Overeating is the result of conditioned behaviors and if you can isolate those conditioned behaviors and resolve them, then the excessive eating and eventual fat gain will be resolved.
People are a habit forming beings and quite a lot of our behaviors in our existence are the product of conditioned behaviors we have formed.
Conditioned behaviors generally start out with negligible alterations in our affairs and a lot of times we are not aware of them. Even though conditioned behaviors start out small, once they become rooted, are very difficult to break.

A lot of obese persons have a few conditioned behaviors here and there that all join to produce the condition that they find themselves in.
Worst still is what results when food is involved. Food has a way with our body, especially junk foods. These foods keep the body in a ever present hunger and the desire for ever increasing quantities in an effort to quench our hunger.

It is quite common for people to turn to food when they are feeling unhappy, sad, depressed, lonely or even happy, as all these feelings can trigger the desire for food.
Emotionally triggered eating 'habits' are frequently very hard to reverse due to the fact that we don't know they exist most of the time.
While there is a pattern and we can see the mannerism when we think about it or when it is mentioned to us but the truth is that most of the time the focus is not on the mannerism but on the need to feel good. Unfortunately, the feeling is that food will bring about some relief.
Unfortunately this is not true and fails to bring any answer. The only thing it does is strengthen the habit creating more problems and a perpetuation of the cycle of excessive eating, weight gain and obesity.

Once you come to the realization that most obesity situations are have something to do with bad conditioned behaviors, particularly with food, then eliminating these bad conditioned behaviors will subsequently result in weight loss. It has been said that a daily decrease in our calorie consumption by 100 calories will result observable fat loss.
One of the things to do is to identify the bad conditioned behaviors. Make yourself aware of your manner of eating. Is there a trigger for your overeating? Critically examine those times when you are likely to eat too much and strive to figure out what triggers the overeating.
Simply of naming and addressing those immediate causes will put you far ahead in your fat loss journey.
Additionally, you should also take a fresh look at the variety of food that you desire during these times as often, they will be comfort foods and more often than not these comfort foods are of very poor nutritional benefit and due to that fact they will trigger overeating.
Simply modifying your comfort foods, substituting higher nutritional value foods for low nutritional value foods. You will all the same be satisfying your cravings by removing the negative side effects that are associated with junk food.
As we get older, more of our daily routines become habits. As a result it harder to find that we have these behavior and even more so to get rid of them particularly if we have had them for years.
By employing a little introspection and a bit of personal analysis you will soon become aware of the variables that are leading up to overeating and weight loss problems.

One quick way is to target one habit at a time. It makes it a a lot less difficult to effect the changes and often fixing one habit can have a major positive impact on several other behaviors. Constant repetitions and practice will most certainly make the process much easier. By changing habit rather than the food itself you will find that weight management will no longer be an overwhelming and can't handle undertaking. |
