Arthritis Symptoms - Early Recognition Avoids Pain |
| |
One
thing we can all agree on, arthritis symptoms
are fairly common. Although arthritis can appear
for a variety of reasons in the human body, generally
the arthritis symptoms in the majority of cases
are pretty similar.
Usually pain and stiffness in the joints and particularly
the load bearing joints in the knees and ankles
is the primary symptom.
The most common forms of arthritis are osteoarthritis
that will predominately cause pain and to a lesser
extent stiffness of these joints. This is because
the cartilage between the joints has begun to
wear away. It is the cartilage’s role to
prevent the bones in the joints from rubbing together.

As you
can understand but hopefully not experienced, this can
be extremely painful. Rheumatoid arthritis is another
wide spread form of the disease.
Rheumatoid arthritis is typified by the membrane becoming
inflamed, and failing to lubricate the joint. This arthritis
symptom is typified by increased stiffness around the
joint accompanied by a lot of pain.
More localized forms of arthritis such as thumb arthritis
can be especially painful, especially when the temperature
outside begins to drop. This form of the disease typically
occurs in women over the age of forty but can affect
anyone. |

People who are more likely to display arthritis
symptoms earlier in life are those who suffer
from diseases such as diabetes, spondylitis, slipped
discs and who are chronically overweight.
People who have injured a joint in their body
at some time may also be susceptible to arthritis
in later life.
When the first twinges of pain begin to appear,
there is no reason to suspect that arthritis has
set in. |
|
However
to save yourself a lot or uncertainty and prevent some
discomfort or pain, it is always worthwhile to pop down
to your family doctor or local health clinic and have
a doctor inspect the area that is troubling you.
They will be able to consult your family health history
and give a general check up regarding any probable causes
for the pain you are experiencing. Which while they
may appear to be arthritis symptoms, do not necessarily
have to be the first signs of the onset of arthritis.
Arthritis is not an easy condition to live with, and
not easy to cure. More and more operations are being
carried out to replace the damaged joint, which seems
to be the only long term solution to this troubling
disease. |
